January - February, 2007 Newsletter
Dear friends,
I want to use this opportunity to give you an update on what the Lord has done in our midst in the last two months. As you know last week we had four nights of revival. We wanted this to be a special event in the village and one week before revival we met every night to pray that God will show his power again. Also, we made posters we put in the village (one by the Orthodox Church) and we made invitations we gave out to people. Last week we saw again how great our God is, but we also saw how big the darkness is in Cordau. But Sunday night, the last night of revival God has won the battle. Four people gave their life to Christ. There was one particular couple that got saved and I want to share with a little bit about their story. A few weeks before Christmas there was a lady, her name is Lia, who start visiting with us. I have talked to her many times and she invited me to go and visit with them. First time when I visited, she shared with me that her husband used to attend the Pentecostal church about 12 years ago, but after some time he quit and now he’s singing in the bars and night clubs. She also told me that it will be hard for him to accept that she’s coming to church. However she continued to come to church every Sunday and after Christmas she asked me to visit with them again. This time I got to speak to her husband, his name is Teo, too. To my surprise, he told me that he quit his job and he would like to come to church as well. I could not believe. The following Sunday he was there too, with his wife. A few weeks before revival he told me that if we need sound system or a keyboard he would be more than happy to let us use his equipment for the revival nights. So, the same keyboard he used to sing with in the nightclubs we used last week to bring glory to God!!! But this is not the end of the story!!! The best part of the story is yet to come. Sunday night Lia and Teo were both at the church. When I start preaching I knew God is going to do something in that place. At the end of the sermon when I gave the invitation, both of them gave their lives to Christ. Actually when Teo responded to the invitation he was crying like a baby. He just looked at me and he said: tonight God has saved me. His wife, Lia also looked at me and she said, what does it mean that my husband also came forward? I responded: that means that you both are saved. How wonderful salvation is! Just one month ago this man was singing in the night clubs now he is a child of God! Also there was another man that got saved on Sunday night, his name is Virgil. He is not from Cordau. He is from another village. He just came from the revival service Sunday night and God has changed is life. He works at a gas station close to our home and this morning we already had the first discipleship encounter at the gas station. It’s hard to describe the joy this man has in his life because God has changed him. In his own words: “I wouldn’t trade what I’ve got now for anything in the world.” Pray that God will make him a lighthouse in his own village. You remember I shared with you about a lady whose name is Lenuta. She got saved at Christmas. Unfortunately in the last few weeks she did not come to church because of her husband. I visited with him and he is so much against our church. He told me that as long as he’s living his wife will not step in our church again. I’ve told him God is greater than him. Please pray that God will change his heart. His name is Nelu. Pray that Lenuta will come back to church. Otilia is on vacation right now, so she enjoys a little break. She also enjoys teaching the Chidren’s Sunday school class. March 31st-April the 10th we will be have a team from Parkwood Baptist Church with us. We look forward to having them here. They will be doing VBS for the children in Cordau. Please pray for this coming event as well. We thank you so much for your support and for everything you do for us. I want to remind you that you are part of our ministry and we could not do this without your support and prayers. God bless you abundantly. In His love, Cristi & Otilia
