Cindy was saved at her home church, 1st Baptist Camden, SC, at age eight. Even at this early age, Cindy wanted others to know Jesus as their Savior. Through her involvement in missions organizations at her home church while in high school and college, Cindy sensed a call to serve in missions. After graduating from both Anderson College in 1984, Cindy attended Gardner-Webb University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Math Education. She returned to Camden to teach Math at her alma mater.
Shortly after Dennis moved to Cindy’s hometown to work for Builders Transport, the two of them met at First Baptist, Camden. After they married in August of 1990, Dennis continued his work in trucking operations management at Builders Transport, while attending Davidson County Community College. Just a few months after completing his Associate of Arts in Liberals Arts degree, he began pastoral ministry while continuing his education.
In April of 2006, Dennis resigned from the pastorate of Cashie Baptist Church and the two of them moved across country from NC to Buckeye, AZ. Appointed by the North American Mission Board, Dennis now serves as the Church Planter and Lead Pastor for Crosspointe, the Church at Tartesso. Tartesso is a new master-planned community that will eventually cover 12,000 acres and have 40,000 houses. It will feature many parks with playgrounds, sprinkler parks, baseball and soccer fields, as well as tennis, basketball and beach volleyball courts.
Opportunities: We would welcome people to be involved in praying for the people of the Tartesso community. We would also welcome them to come to Arizona to engage in the work first hand. Depending on the age group and skill sets, we may have a game day in the community park, help people move into their homes, host practical help clinics for home improvement, auto care, parenting, helping with homework, home décor, quick & healthy meals or any other practical ideas your people may have. Regardless of age or physical ability, we would deliver welcome gifts to our new neighbors and prayer walk the community. |
