Planned Giving - Forever Funding the Kingdom of God

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Planned Giving?

Planned giving (or “charitable gift planning”), refers to the process of making a charitable gift of current or estate assets to one or more nonprofit organizations; a gift that requires consideration and planning in light of the donor’s overall current giving and estate plan. Parkwood’s Planned Giving program is for every member, no matter the size of the gift!

Gifts of estate assets usually include legal documents and require the assistance of a qualified professional advisor to complete. Because of the size and potential impact of such gifts, a donor should consult with his or her professional advisors before completing the process.

How are the Endowment Funds managed?

The Planned Giving Committee of Parkwood Baptist Church is responsible for giving oversight and direction of the funds. The Committee uses the North Carolina Baptist Foundation’s investment funds.

How can I contribute to Parkwood Baptist Church Endowments?

  • Current contributions – All funds accept current living contributions. In fact, the majority of the balance of these funds has been through current giving.
  • In honor or memory of a family member, friend, or other special person.
  • Bequests (wills and estates) naming Parkwood Baptist Church and the particular fund of your choice to receive funds or property.
  • Trusts – Naming Parkwood Baptist Church as the beneficiary as part of a lifetime trust, providing income each year.
  • Property, stocks, or other investments. Some assets are said to “pass outside” of your will or living trust with a designated beneficiary.
  • Life insurance – The proceeds of life insurance policies are paid to the beneficiary named in the contract.
  • Annuity contracts – The proceeds of annuities are paid to the beneficiary to inherit assets the way you want your final wishes to further the Kingdom of God.

Hopechest” Adoption Endowment Fund

“Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their distress.” James 1:27
With an estimated 143 million children in the world today without families, the need and the opportunity for Christian families to adopt is great. However, the expenses associated with adoption are also great. God may not be calling you to adopt, but you can help make it possible for other Christian families from Parkwood Baptist Church or associated churches to give a child a home by contributing to the Hopechest Adoption Fund.

The purpose of this fund is to help place as many children without homes as possible with families that will help point them toward Christ. What an awesome mission opportunity! You can play a vital role by helping families overcome the financial barriers to adopting.

The Parkwood Baptist Church Planned Giving Committee and the Senior Pastor shall select recipients of fund monies from applications made to the church. A high priority will be given to the Christian character and reputation of the family making a request for funds.
