Sparks
New students to Sparks must first complete an entrance booklet. Once this booklet is completed, the student is eligible to purchase a vest ($10) and the first book -- Skipper Handbook ($8). Many parents like to also purchase a handbook bag ($5) for carrying the handbook, as well as AWANA "shares" ($) that the child will be earning. Handbook time is when the child recites his/her Bible verses to the leader. Your child should be ready to recite his/her verses at this time. It is vital that the parents work with the child throughout the week to help learn the verses. A few minutes spent each day will help your child be successful. The handbooks are broken down into sections. Once sections are completed, the child receives colored jewels and AWANA shares. The jewels are placed in a plastic crown pinned to the uniform. IMPORTANT: Your Spark will need to complete approximately 2 sections per week to finish the book during the year and receive an award. Green Meadow time is when a Bible story is told. Your child also learns how the story applies to our everyday lives. It is an exciting time, and a time when God can touch the heart of your child. Please encourage your child to listen carefully during Green Meadow time. Game time is a time for high-energy games and teamwork. We want the kids to be loud and have a good time. The winning team is awarded AWANA shares that can be later used at the AWANA store. Children should always wear tennis shoes to have good traction on the game floor. Our AWANA club supports AWANA clubs in Romania, Indonesia, and Haiti. The children are able to earn an Adopt-A-Club patch by bringing in 10 cents each week for 20 weeks. Children are encouraged to support this program. Last but not least is our AWANA store. Your child will accumulate AWANA
shares each week for verses learned, wearing his/her vest and bringing
his/her book. Four times a year we have an AWANA store night where your
child can exchange his/her shares for neat items. |
