The Master's Plan

The Master's Plan for Parkwood Baptist Church has always been to Glorify God by laboring together for the Growth of all believers while Going with the Gospel to all people(s). Rooted in the truth of God's Word (Colossians 1:28 and Matthew 28:19-20), The Master's Plan is our guiding principle and purpose as we seek to do ministry. The Master's Plan governs every decision we make as a Church.

However, the purpose of Parkwood Baptist Church will not come to fruition without the active, faithful, sacrificial giving of the members of Parkwood Baptist Church. To uphold The Master's Plan, we must give of ourselves. We must give ourselves to God through prayer and give of ourselves through the stewardship of our resources. Without these two pillars to uphold the purpose, Parkwood Baptist Church will not be all that God has called her to be.

In 2003, Parkwood Baptist Church began a process of discernment with The Adams Group to understand the growth needs of our church and how to best use our current facilities. Many of you participated in meetings to discuss the needs of various areas of ministry and talk about things you would like to see happen through this process. All of these meetings helped us understand our space needs and the cost of the project. Your hard work helped the Property Utilization Team and the Pastoral Staff think through the needs of our Church and what would be required to meet those needs. This Master Site Plan is a product of those meetings.

Along the way, we began to understand a few things about the Master Site Plan as it is displayed in this drawing. First, we understood that there would be a high cost to this project—estimated at approximately $14 million. Second, the Property Utilization Team and the Pastoral Staff began to realize that this Master Plan would cause long term displacement and disruption to current ministry areas. Finally, as our church voted to build debt free, the Property Utilization Team and the Pastoral Staff saw that to phase this project would not be feasible.

These realizations led the Property Utilization Team and the Pastoral Staff to continue thinking and praying about the Master Site Plan in light of the Master's Plan for Parkwood Baptist Church. In other words, the leadership wanted the purpose of Parkwood Baptist Church to guide our decisions about the buildings we built as well as the way we used the resources God has entrusted to us.

As the Property Utilization Team and the Pastoral Staff have sought to uphold The Master's Plan, The Master has led and provided beyond anything we could ever ask or imagine.
