The Master's PlanImpactAs you can see from the timeline on page 2, the Gymnastics World Property was made available and feasible in late January-early February. Since that time, the Property Utilization Team and Pastoral Staff have been working diligently with Onxley Architecture to determine how this new addition impacts our needs as a Church and the possibilities for our current facilities. The information gained during the process of formulating the Master Site Plan with the Adams Group has guided decisions about our facilities. Without your hard work, these recommendations would not be possible. The following drawing is a product of that work. Facility ImpactThis recommendation impacts every member of Parkwood Baptist Church. When the Student Ministry is moved into the Student Ministry Building, a large amount of space will be made available for other ministry areas. The impact will be a ripple effect that will touch every member of our congregation. After Phase 1 is completed and money is raised for Phase 2 of the project, construction will begin on an elevator on the west side of the lobby of the Worship Center. The elevator along with a wider staircase addition will allow everyone to use the classrooms downstairs in the Worship Center. When the elevator is completed, Building B will be renovated for preschool and younger children. This renovation will also include enclosing the area between Buildings A and B which will create a Game Room for Awana and class room space for younger children and adults. Children have played in that area for a long time. Now, there will be a roof over it, and the play will have a purpose. When Building B is renovated, the Library will be moved to Building A which will provide this ministry with almost twice its current space. The new location of the Library would provide a more visible presence on the campus. More people will benefit from reading books that encourage them in their walk with Christ as they grow in their faith. Another aspect of Phase 2 would be the renovation of Buildings C/D for our older elementary children. Our 3rd—5th grade children will have dedicated space for Kidz Praize!, AWANA and Bible Study. Buildings C and D would be updated to be more than sufficient for the needs of our children and the adults who so faithfully minister to them. Phase 3 would include a complete renovation of the Worship Center and Building A. This renovation will include Kitchen Renovation and a large Galleria to connect all of the central buildings on the campus. The Galleria would provide fellowship and gathering space for all of us as we enter for worship or enjoy meeting new people afterward. This addition would create an additional 8,400 square feet of space for fellowship. Phase 4 would include a new Administrative Building located next to the Worship Center as well as more parking for people to join us for worship and Bible Study. The Master's Plan impacts every member of Parkwood Baptist ChurchNumerical ImpactThese updates and adjustments take the current facility to the place where we can have 1800 in worship and Bible Study (assuming 2 services and 2 Bible Study hours). Below is information about how this plan affects each area numerically. These numbers reflect the capacity of the facilities at completion.
Financial ImpactThe greatest concern from the Property Utilization Team and Pastoral Staff has been how we are using the resources we have been given to uphold the purpose of Parkwood Baptist Church. For this reason, the most staggering factor in this recommendation is the difference in cost for these two plans. The Master Site Plan which included Worship Center renovation and additional parking was estimated at $14 million. This proposal when completed would cost our church between $6-$7 million.
