Discover ParkwoodBasic Structure and FunctionProclaiming Acts 2:42-47 "They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved." NASU ProclaimingThe proclamation of the truth of God’s Word is the center of our Worship services, Bible Study classes, 1:28, Student Ministry, AWANA, etc. AskingPrayer is continually encouraged during Worship Services and Bible Study. In addition, prayer needs are shared through e-mail, phone tree, and the web-site. ReachingWe are committed to reaching the Gaston County area with the Gospel. At the same time, we are seeking to reach out into North Carolina, North America, and the uttermost parts of the earth. Missions is a centerpiece of what we do. CaringBelievers unite together in a local church to encourage one another to fulfill the mission of Christ and help one another in time of need. Primarily through Bible Study classes, we encourage members to fellowship together, share with one another as needed, and to offer assistance to each other in the name of Christ. WorshippingWe gather on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening to glorify the LORD God. Our services are designed with Him as the focus, not the needs and preferences of man. OrganizingAny church must be organized; however, the larger a church becomes, the more necessary Biblical organization becomes. The ministries of the church are led by a God-called and capable Pastoral Staff. (Senior Pastor-Jeff Long, Pastor of Administration and Stewardship-Kent Lachney, Pastor of Pastoral Care-Vernon Carver, Pastor of Discipleship-Jeff Watts, Pastor of Missions-Kem Lindsay, Student Pastor-Brian Lowe, Children’s Pastor-Clay Robinson, Porch Director-Dustin Hoyle). We are currently training for the first group of Elders to begin in 2007. The Church is served by Deacons who assist with the ordinances of the church, assist in visitation, and look after the shut-ins. We believe everyone is a minister and everyone has a ministry according to the grace of God and the work of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, there are countless opportunities to minister and serve at Parkwood. Each ministry is necessary to carry out the purpose of the Church. All major decisions are made together as a congregation. OfferingThe ministry of the church is sustained by the stewardship of God’s people. The stewardship of using one’s gifts and time in and through the church is essential for the health and growth of the Body. The stewardship of resources and finances is essential for the implementation of quality ministries, the provision of facilities, and the support of missions. DisciplingThe heart of what we do at Parkwood is seeing one another grow in the faith. One author put it this way, "We are people in need of change helping people in need of change." |
